I am so grateful for Obama's leadership and, at the same time, I see Washington being Washington all over again and don't have any faith that this "stimulus" will help much at all. When the Congress passed the first bailout, you could have heard the cry of anguish coming from the Rogue Valley for a hundred miles. Only... we're NOT helpless here. They're coining money. That money means nothing without our willing handover of tax money. The Boston Tea Party was the FIRST American tax revolt. I'm expecting we're going to see a similar "event" now... only it's not going to be confined to Boston harbor this time. It's going to be national. We, the taxpayers have ALL the power in a democracy, you guys! We simply have to make our own decisions about how to "stimulate" our local economies if the Congress can't come up with a plan that will actually work for the people. Yes I am an angry man. I would echo most of the sentiments expressed in your post. I feel powerless and helpless though. I do not think there is anything that we can do to change the system.
