Middle East envoy George Mitchell reportedly discussing deal to allow completion of homes currently under construction

Barack Obama has dispatched a clutch of senior American officials to Jerusalem to press his demand for an end to Jewish settlement construction and move along a diplomatic process aimed at imposing a blueprint for peace if negotiations fail.

Obama’s Middle East envoy, George Mitchell, is reportedly discussing a deal with the Israeli leadership that would allow the completion of several thousand homes for Jewish settlers already under construction but impose a total halt to building once they are complete. Such an agreement would amount to a concession by Obama, who laid down an immediate and complete freeze on construction as a marker of a more interventionist policy at a testy meeting with the Israeli prime minister, Binyamin Netanyahu, in Washington in May.

ObamaCare: A Physician’s Point of View On The Negative Ramifications of America’s Affordable Health Choices Act of 2009

Healthcare reform is obviously the hot button topic of the day, and unfortunately, as a good (and well educated) friend of mine admitted today, the sum of the average American’s knowledge about the current healthcare bill comes from the nightly news.  From their perspective, ObamaCare sounds pretty good.

I’d like to share my take on this issue, but first, before the inevitable attacks begin, I’d like to share some things that shape my point of view.  Despite the letters after my name, I don’t come at this from the viewpoint of a doctor who is worried about their bottom line.  If you’ve been around for a while, you know I don’t practice medicine, as a result of having a child with multiple healthcare needs.  I am also not a Republican.  If you must know, I’m not a member of any political party.

As the People Grow More Desperate

A Constitution in FULL Crisis

By JB Williams
America’s extreme left tricked American moderates into supporting their candidate last November by campaigning on post-partisan cooperation and transparency in government. Six months after the election of a freshman senator with a blank résumé, a laundry list of evil associates and a life more secret than your average CIA agent, Obama’s entire history remains a mystery and his administration is the most hardcore partisan dictatorship ever experienced in the USA.

Washington DC partisanship has turned into outright Obama-Pelosi dictatorship. The so-called “Commander-in-Chief” is fast losing control of his military, which is increasingly and viciously divided between those who are refusing to take orders from an overt enemy of the Constitution, and those who foolishly defend Obama’s right to destroy that which they took an oath to protect and preserve.

financial Armageddon

By: Michael J Panzner

It’s funny how little those in charge have learned from the nightmare of the past two years.

All the evidence suggests that the various machinations of the Fed, the misjudgments of the Treasury, the manipulations of the moneyed interests, and the malfeasance of elected officials who supposedly serve our interests has helped bring about the worst financial crisis since the Great Depression.

And yet, what do we have now? More of the same. More of the same kind of disastrous thinking and misguided policy-making that has helped transform the U.S. from an unrivaled economic powerhouse into a nation that is slowly being consumed from within by wreckless profligacy and an addict’s dependence on borrowed money.

“Savings will require changing how doctors think about their patients” – Ezekiel Emanuel

“Doctors take the Hippocratic Oath too seriously, as an imperative to do everything for the patient regardless of the cost or effects on others” (Ezekiel Emanuel, Journal of the American Medical Association, June 18, 2008).

Would you vote for a person to be president if you knew that when elected he would appoint someone who thought and said this? Obama did so. The President appointed Dr. Ezekiel Emanuel, the brother of White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel, to two key positions: health-policy adviser at the Office of Management and Budget and a member of Federal Council on Comparative Effectiveness Research. Emanuel added to his comments that Doctors take their jobs too seriously and need to change to reduce costs – “Savings will require changing how doctors think about their patients,” he wrote.

Emanuel knows that the cuts will not be pain-free. “Vague promises of savings from cutting waste, enhancing prevention and wellness, installing electronic medical records and improving quality are merely ‘lipstick’ cost control, more for show and public relations than for true change,” he wrote last year (Health Affairs Feb. 27, 2008).

Emanuel wants doctors to look beyond the needs of their patients and consider social justice, such as whether the money could be better spent on somebody else. You know what this means; if you are old it’s not cost effective to keep you alive, the money is better spent on a younger person. In the world of Obamacare no longer will doctors try to keep patients alive, they will be told that a doctor’s job is to achieve social justice one patient at a time.

Swine Flu Plc: Cashing in on the pandemic

Huge pharmaceutical companies, face-mask manufacturers and even internet opportunists are raking in the money. Tim Persinko and Susie Mesure report.

TIJUANA, MEX-APRIL 27: Pedestrians walk toward...

Sir Liam Donaldson, the Chief Medical Officer for England, hit the swine flu panic button last week, warning the outbreak is confronting the NHS with its “biggest challenge in a generation”. But that didn’t mean everyone caught up in the hysteria that has even seen stoical commuters accessorise their work outfits with face masks was panicking.

For dozens of companies, including giant multinational corporations and tiny internet quacks, the outbreak of swine flu frenzy has turned into a licence to print money. And plenty of it. The disease’s explosive global advance has sent everyone from private citizens to national governments on a mass shopping spree to try to buy cures: catching swine flu might be not funny but anyone working for what increasingly looks like Swine Flu Inc is laughing all the way to the bank.

Wikipedia’s creator criticizes laws that restrict freedom of the Internet

Posted on 2009 07, 26 by rockingjude

The controversial bill (PL) by Senator Eduardo Azeredo (PSDB-MG),establishing 13 new forms of crimes on the Internet, is about to be abandoned. The pressure to drop the project from several fronts, from a below-signed online to the criticism of President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, who described the PL as “censorship”. In an interview with Reuters, even the founder of Wikipedia recommended: “I encourage people from all over to think carefully about the consequences of any change that will lead to restrictions on privacy and freedom.

Without using the word “censorship”, Jimmy Wales said that laws such as the proposal by Senator Azeredo may restrict individual freedom. The interview was granted after the Reuters sent at the request of Wales, an English translation of the draft law.

“Freedom of speech is a precious and powerful force for prosperity and peace, and laws that put it at risk should be treated with great care and caution,” he said. The father of the Wikipedia not only referred to the Law Azeredo, but also to other laws that seek to regulate the use of the Internet.

In France, for example, the National Assembly must vote on a controversial project in September of law against illegal downloads. The French project, which was postponed, revised and amended, received much criticism because of enabling the authority cut the network access of users accused of “piracy” more than once.

On the protection of the Internet, Wales was categorical. “Important protections to individuals who need to express their ideas to achieve positive changes should be preserved,” defended. In Brazil, the Law Azeredo is approved, the prosecution accused the users of cyber crime would be imprisonment from one to three years, plus fines.

Besides the project of Azeredo, the PL 29 also generated controversy in the virtual world. A substitute proposed by the federal deputy of Rego Vital Filho (PMDB-PB) wishes to impose conditions for audiovisual production in the network to fit in the same category, cable TV and internet providers.

Global Power and Global Government: Evolution and Revolution of the Central Banking System Part 1

http://globalresearch.ca/index.php?context=va&aid=14464

Introduction

Humanity is on the verge of entering into the most tumultuous period in our history. The prospects of a global depression, the likes of which have never been seen before; a truly global war, on a scale never before imagined; and societal collapse, for which nations of the world are building totalitarian police states to control populations; are increasing by the day. The major global trend forecasters are sounding the alarms on economic depression, war, a return to fascism and a total reorganization of society. Through crisis, we are seeing the reorganization of the global political economy, and the transformation of capitalism into a totalitarian capitalist world government. Capitalism has never stayed the same through its history; it has always changed and will continue to do so. Its changes are explained and analyzed through political-economic theory, both mainstream theory and critical. The changes are undertaken over years, decades and centuries. The next phase of capitalism is one in which the world moves to a state-controlled economic system, much like China, of totalitarian capitalism.
