By Lynda Acker

Tomorrow (February 17th, 2010) at 2:30 p.m. more than 100 conservative leaders will gather in Alexandria, Virginia. They will do so to sign the Mount Vernon Statement. The event will take place at the Collingwood Library and Museum on the eve of the Conservative Political Action Conference (or CPAC) happening in Washington this weekend. What is the Mount Vernon Statement? It is a document in which the conservative movement will reaffirm its commitment to Constitutional Conservatism and the principles of the Declaration of Independence: life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. It’s purpose is to defend our nation’s founding principles.
Signers will be social, fiscal, and national security conservatives coming together to form what’s been called a ‘three-legged conservative coalition. The prominent conservatives that will be there include former Attorney General Ed Meese, Family Research Council head Tony Perkins, Heritage Foundation President Edwin Feulner, Media Research Center President Brent Bozell, Federalist Society co-founder David McIntosh, and Americans for Tax Reform President Grover Norquist among others.
The actual document (Mount Vernon Statement) will be released to the public tomorrow.
