Wiretapped phones, now Internet?…

To better track criminals, U.S. wants to be able to wiretap online communications

By CHARLIE SAVAGEVirtual PC Security by Chris Pirillo

WASHINGTON – Federal law enforcement and national security officials are preparing to seek sweeping new regulations of the Internet, arguing that their ability to wiretap criminal and terrorism suspects is “going dark” as people increasingly communicate online instead of by telephone.

Essentially, officials want Congress to require all services that enable communications — including encrypted e-mail transmitters such as BlackBerry, social networking websites such as Facebook and software that allows direct “peer-to-peer” messaging such as Skype — to be technically capable of complying if served with a wiretap order. The mandate would include being able to intercept and unscramble encrypted messages.

The legislation, which the Obama administration plans to submit to Congress next year, raises fresh questions about how to balance security needs with protecting privacy and fostering technological innovation. And because security services around the world face the same problem, it could set an example that is copied globally.

A Fresh Theory On Blast’s Cause…hmmmm

BP oil spill by ctweathersWASHINGTON—A new theory about the origin of the blowout of a BP PLC oil well emerged on Sunday when an outside investigator said the problem could potentially be traced to cracks that formed in an underwater formation.

BP has said that the worst offshore oil spill in U.S. history started with flaws in the cement, blaming Halliburton Co. for developing a faulty cement foam that didn’t stay mixed with nitrogen. Halliburton says tests conducted before the cementing job showed that the foam was stable.

“I’d like to just maintain the possibility that one reason that the cement job may have failed was because of fracking at the time of cementing,” said Mark Zoback, a Stanford University geophysicist who serves on the National Academy of Engineering panel investigating the causes of the April 20 disaster.

The remarks, at a meeting convened at the National Academy of Engineering, undercut BP’s effort to assign blame for the April 20 Deepwater Horizon explosion to its contractors instead of its own well design.

BP had said that the foam likely failed to properly mix with the nitrogen.

The Real CLIMATE-GATE – THE AGENDA (climategate / climate gate) (ver. 2)…

People need to at least know the agenda and understand the desired future outcome of globalization and CO2 treaties along with total economic control of all populations on the planet. You want a Star Trek future. The question is: Is that the future that is on the agenda?

One final quote left out of the video:

“In searching for a new enemy to unite us, we came up with the idea that pollution, the threat of global warming, water shortages, famine and the like would fit the bill. All these dangers are caused by human intervention, and it is only through changed attitudes and behavior that they can be overcome. The real enemy then, is humanity itself.”

Islamisation of Paris : A Warning to the West….

Posted on 2010 09, 25 by rockingjude

PARIS – Friday in Paris. A hidden camera shows streets blocked by huge crowds of Muslim worshippers and enforced by a private security force.

This is all illegal in France: the public worship, the blocked streets, and the private security. But the police have been ordered not to intervene.

It shows that even though some in the French government want to get tough with Muslims and ban the burqa, other parts of the French government continue to give Islam a privileged status.

An ordinary French citizen who has been watching the Islamization of Paris decided that the world needed to see what was happening to his city. He used a hidden camera to start posting videos on YouTube. His life has been threatened and so he uses the alias of “Maxime Lepante. “

Obama Complies With Agenda 21 and Expands Federal Power …

By Henry Lamb

The Influence of Law on Sea Power, 1975 by rodcorpPresident Obama’s Executive Order 13547 issued July 19, further extends federal power, embraces global governance, diminishes the rights and privileges of individuals, and brings the United States into compliance with Agenda 21, Chapter 17.6, which says:

“Each coastal State should consider establishing, or where necessary strengthening, appropriate coordinating mechanisms (such as a high-level policy planning body) for integrated management and sustainable development of coastal and marine areas….”

The National Ocean Council created by the Executive Order creates this mechanism – and much more.

The genius of the American system of governance created by the U.S. Constitution is the delicate balance of power between the federal government, state and local governments, and the people. The founders recognized the people as the source of power; the people came first. It was the people who organized states. The states created a federal government and through the Constitution, limited the power of the new government to those specific powers set forth in Article 1, Section 8. All unspecified powers were explicitly retained by the states or the people.

Who’s Really Got the Lapse of Reason Here?

MOMENTARY LAPSE OF REASON by marek drizhalSo Colbert testifies on illegal immigration before Congress, UAW workers are smoking dope and drinking in the parking lot of a Jeep plant (one drove away in a Ford Mustang),  Imadinnerjacket was allowed to spew delusional (thats what the State Dept called him) @#$%&! at the UN….but we can still negotiate with him according to POTUS. The UN almost censures Israel over nuke

inspection. Our soldiers are killed in Combat in Iraq even though combat is declared over and Woodward says Obama said we can absorb a terror attack (I guess thats supposed to make us feel better) and I heard a Obama supporter explain that the wealthy have always done better after being taxed more…the Clinton administration was used as an example.

So, the Tea Party people are deranged???????????

A Pentagon-funded scientist has come up with a comprehensive program to turn today’s robots into tomorrow’s A.I. overlords. Step one: Imbue them with toddler-level intelligence. Step two: Run them through a “cognitive decathlon” of tests. And finally, use programmed learning abilities and human instruction to turn bot tots into supersmart A.I. agents “that [can] learn and be taught like a human.”

Darpa, the Pentagon’s far-out research arm, wants robots that can outdo (or at least match) human smarts, from data analysis to C3P0-esque language translation. Advanced A.I. was also the overarching goal of their Biologically Inspired Cognitive Architectures, or BICA, program, which sought to mimic the physiological and neurological elements of the human mind.

But given the agency’s lofty A.I. goals, they also needed a better way to determine just how well their bots mimicked human functioning in the first place. Enter Shane Mueller, a senior research scientist at Applied Research Associates, and an expert in cognition, perception and memory.

In 2008, Mueller and a team of researchers developed a program on devising and testing bots as part of Darpa’s BICA program. Their paper, which was released online (.pdf) last week after a Freedom of Information request, wants to see military scientists start young — literally — by rearing robots with the capabilities of an average toddler.

“There were many motivations for this target, but one central notion is that if one could design a system with the capabilities of a two-year-old, it might be possible to essentially grow a three-year-old, given realistic experiences in a simulated environment,” Mueller writes.

Watching Wal-Mart at Midnight…

Posted on 2010 09, 23 by rockingjude

Bill Simon, CEO of Wal-Mart’s U.S. business, at a Goldman Sachs conference last week,

on behavior at a Walmart store around midnight at the end of a month:

100809_NEW_WalmartTour_AJC_09 by AnnArbor.com

“The paycheck cycle we’ve talked about before remains extreme. It is our responsibility to figure out how to sell in that environment, adjusting pack sizes, large pack at sizes the beginning of the month, small pack sizes at the end of the month. And to figure out how to deal with what is an ever-increasing amount of transactions being paid for with government assistance.

“And you need not go further than one of our stores on midnight at the end of the month. And it’s real interesting to watch, about 11 p.m., customers start to come in and shop, fill their grocery basket with basic items, baby formula, milk, bread, eggs, and continue to shop and mill about the store until midnight, when electronic — government electronic benefits cards get activated and then the checkout starts and occurs. And our sales for those first few hours on the first of the month are substantially and significantly higher.

“And if you really think about it, the only reason somebody gets out in the middle of the night and buys baby formula is that they need it, and they’ve been waiting for it. Otherwise, we are open 24 hours — come at 5 a.m., come at 7 a.m., come at 10 a.m. But if you are there at midnight, you are there for a reason.”
